Lueder Construction Company

Our firm, Lueder Construction Company (www.lueder.com), subcontracted with Carolina Timberworks to fabricate the heavy timber framing for three separate lodges at The Cloisters on the Platte project in Nebraska (cloistersontheplatte.com).

Our contracts with Carolina Timberworks totaled over one million dollars for the three lodges. The work they performed was during the 2017-2018 calendar years. Carolina Timberworks met our expectations and they did what they said they would do. This seems like a small thing, but these days, it is unique. Their people were responsive, professional, and went over and above at times to meet the sometimes-demanding expectations of three different architects.

Without hesitation, I would recommend Carolina Timberworks to others for undertaking schedule-driven, architect-designed, challenging projects incorporating heavy timber construction. We look forward to working with them again.

Blowing Rock, NC

I am building a house in Blowing Rock, NC. It is a timber frame structure, SIP panel, geothermal, solar panel BARN.

Carolina Timberworks was my first choice. They are astonishingly good. The big timbers were delivered on Tuesday along with a trailer. Wednesday morning found the job site crawling with hardhats. Thursday at 7am, a crane arrived and by 7pm, the timber frame was complete. Friday was odd. The only trace they left was a pine tree hanging on the western peak of this astounding structure.

Obviously there are steps that you take before and after the timber frame, but I found the planning stages interesting and informative.

I expect that you will find the price a bit uncomfortable, the workmanship master level and the product as promised or better.

Carolina Timberworks is a professional design associate with us, fabricator, and an installer of fine timber architecture. They have performed in all three phases with me as I work through the designs of projects. I was the project manager for a speciality pavilion for a client in South Carolina and Carolina Timberworks was a major player in the success of the project. From choosing the wood, inspecting the fabrication procedure with the client so they were comfortable with the product before we had it finished.

We were able to make and fine tune design decisions all the way on a very sophisticated project. I look to Carolina Timberworks as a design associate when I have ideas for homes, barns, pergolas, and other ancillary structures. I am grateful for their reviews and their craftsmanship. I can not wait to work together on the next project with them.

When we selected Carolina Timberworks as our partner on a high profile job we knew we were in great hands from the beginning. With detailed drawings that reflected the pricing to redesigning some aspects to make the pieces fit the real world job site that we live in as Contractors. Structurally there is no room for improvement and professionally I would say the same they have anticipated and bent over backwards to make sure we loved the material , the finish and finally the assembly. Great partners and we will definitely be working together again soon.

We could not be more pleased with the level of service and care Eric M, Eric O, and the entire CTW crew put into our project. Our project was not without its challenges as we had issues with the stain color being inconsistent, this is where I think the integrity of CTW was exemplified. They worked to make everything right and did not stop until we were completely satisfied. I would highly Recommend CTW for any project!

I used Carolina Timberworks for a large remodel project that involved extensive and challenging details. From design to install, I had an incredible experience working with these guys. Extremely professional, courteous, and thorough. The superintendent who was stationed on the job (who has been remodeling for over 30 years) would constantly tell me how impressed he was with their crew. From the top-down, they really know what they’re doing.

Their turn-key operation made it extremely easy on my end as I never had to worry about a thing, they would always honor their word in regards to schedule, design, etc. And anyone who is a Project Manager know how much of a value that is. I have never posted a recommendation on Houzz before but I was so impressed with this outfit that I had to share this experience. And, of course, the finished product was absolutely beautiful (see picture attached). There’s really no other team to use in the business.

It is our pleasure to write a review of Carolina Timberworks (CTW). Our experience with CTW was excellent and professional in every way. We were new to the High Country of Western North Carolina. As such, we had very few references; we had an idea of what we wanted as an end result, but getting there was going to be a challenge. We had no familiar faces to deal with or to know whom we could trust.

As we became familiar with the folks at CTW we gained a great deal of comfort in their integrity, honesty, creativity and knowledge. We were rebuilding an existing home, mandated a five month time line, and we were absent most of the time.

We were working with an out-of-state designer, who brought great skill to the process. However, it was the CTW people who were “hands on”. Whether it was in the Timber Shop or in the field, they knew how to get it done, when and on budget. Our tongue & groove ceiling is breathtaking; the entry hall stairway honed from old wood is a conversation piece; our outside timber gazebo is the place where everyone gravitates with high ceilings and a beautiful stone fireplace. We have comfort and beauty throughout our wonderful mountain home.

Perhaps what we appreciated most about CTW were the people. From the owners to the shop guys and everyone in between, they are all skilled, quality individuals. What more can you ask than a highly talented, creative and honest contractor? We have been proud to give them referrals over the past several years.

Carolina Timberworks is my “go to” timber company when as a design professional, I need help in the design and the structural integrity of a particular timber truss detail for any one of my commercial and/or residential projects. Whether they will ultimately be awarded the contract for the project or not, they are very willing, eager and able to help me determine the most economical design for the look I am trying to achieve for my client’s project. Their knowledge of the intricacies of timber properties is amazing. They have taught me more about “wood” in the years we have worked together than I thought possible.

Their price estimate presentation to my contractors and owners is not only very informative with numerous options but very graphically pleasing most importantly very easily understood. In today’s very competitive market, they are price conscience and in my opinion provide very competitive pricing for what they are asked to supply. Finally Carolina Timberworks works well not only with their design professionals, but with their contractors and owners to provide the timber project that everyone can be most proud of.
